Bridging Cultures for Peace and Empowerment
Fostering Democracy & Peace
Since 2019, with support of DIZF Foundation, we have been actively involved in fostering connections within the international community of Russian-speaking immigrants. Following the full-scale invasion of Ukraine, we have facilitated the formation of a group of Russian immigrants - Точка сбора or Gathering Point who oppose the war in Ukraine and support political prisoners in Russia. This initiative is part of a global movement of politically and socially active individuals of Russian origin activelyengaged in civic society. Together with NADAV Foundation, we also work to raise awareness among our community members about current social and political issues in Israel. One of our top priorities is the support and integration of newly immigrated nonprofit professionals and civic activists into Israeli civil society through educational programs, training sessions, and networking events.
Empower Her: Women & Girls Support Project
Our recent initiative, EmpowerHer, is dedicated to establishing communication channels and fostering dialogue and engagement among women from diverse communities. In collaboration with the Haifa's Feminist Center Isha l'Isha, we have developed a Leadership Course for women activists who have recently immigrated to Israel. This course aims to enhance their knowledge and skills, foster empowerment, and promote effective advocacy for gender equality and social change. Additionally, we offer support groups for women facing challenges during the immigration process, addressing issues such as maternity, self-esteem, and more. Through EmpowerHer, we strive to create a unified platform where women can share their experiences, learn from each other, and work together towards a more inclusive and equitable society.
Teen Well-being & Civic Engagement Initiative
We also recognize the importance of supporting the younger generation, particularly those grappling with immigration challenges and war-related traumas. In collaboration with Teen Academy Kaskad Project - a project-based school for informal education, we have launched a program designed to foster dialogue between teenagers and their urban environments through cultural, artistic, digital and eco-oriented practices. This initiative brings together teenagers from diverse cultural backgrounds to collaboratively reimagine the city of Haifa.
At present, we are not running any projects for teenagers.
However, we are thrilled to announce that Alexandra, our Program Manager, is attending the Oasis Movement International Partnership Convention 2024
in Vadodara. There, she is focused on developing new initiatives in character education for young people, parents, and educators in our community.
FreedomZone Festival: Support Political Prisoners
On the 30th of August, following Berlin and Budva, Haifa hosted the international FreedomZone festival ❤️ for the first time, and we were thrilled to take part in it. One of the festival’s main goals was to bring attention to the challenges political prisoners and their families face. The event featured performances by fine artists, poets, musicians, activists and local business. As part of the festival, we held a workshop where over a hundred postcards were created for political prisoners. Even more importantly, we raised 1,480 shekels in donations! These funds have already been directed to support the prisoners of the Tyumen Case, who are set to face five trials in the coming two months, and to prepare a food box for the wife of political prisoner Igor Maltsev.
